Help with major transitions

Ive had the game for two days now and been playing constantly so im pretty familiar with it, but one thing i cant get the hang of is transitions, especially from the bottom. Im a LW in career mode and i cant beat sherk, he just lays on me for 3 rounds and wins a decision every time. He cant do any damage because i can catch his punches whenever he gets to full mount and then pretty easily do minor transitions, but from there i cant do anything so i just wrestle around with him for 15 mins each fight.

I seem to be ok when i transition on top but on the bottom i keep having trouble. When i rotate the stick how fast should i be doing it? Because i see my guy start the transition but then do nothing, like it will look like hes about to push off to stand up but then he just goes back to full guard.

Just don't let him take you down, I know its not that easy but thats what I had to do in the demo to keep Shogun from winning all the time.

Jesus christ it's not that hard.
With the major transitions, there isn't any speed or perfect time to flick the stick - you just have to flick it right.
Push it up to a top left position, and then move it around till it's facing to the right. Just do this simple thing when he's ontop of you and not moving, and you're out.

Also, if you flick the stick to the right or the left when you see him about to go for a transition, you'll counter it and throw him of you.

If you're still struggling- your ground game must be very poor. In this case i'd reccomend fighting lower opponents and training.

Note - you're description of seeing you're guy starting and not finishing the transition is because Sherk is blocking you. Just keep doing the same thing and eventually you'll get out. The AI isn't smart enough to beat you when you try to transition, he'll stay still and just try to keep blocking you - but eventually you should win.

Either ur playing on easy or there's some kind of trick your doing because it feels almost impossible for me to do it. And the animation im talking about is not sherk blocking my transition its me starting the transition and not rotating it right or something.

fight lesser ranked opponents for 2 fights and use the training to gain some skill points...obviously your takedown defense isn't very good, so maybe start there...and your ground grappling off/def is very important...
