Name: Wayland Fong - Design Intern
Pick: Georges St-Pierre by Decision
Quite simply, GSP is bigger, stronger, and has better endurance. Even if BJ’s cardio is up to speed, he’s going to have to deal with pushing around a larger opponent, which will wear him down in the long run. Also, GSP’s wrestling has been sick lately. While BJ’s takedown defense and ground game is nothing to scoff at, ultimately GSP will be the one that determines where the fight goes. Since Greg Jackson’s fighters always come in with solid game plans, you can be sure that GSP will take the fight where he has the most advantage. That being said, BJ can be dangerous anywhere and he did beat up GSP in the early rounds of their first fight. If anyone has a good chance of beating GSP right now, it’s BJ. I expect a phenomenal fight!

Name: Neven Dravinski - Project Manager
Pick: GSP by rippling abs defeat
Fightstarts…BJ takes one look at GSP’s asymmetrical abs and decides hecannot possibly go on with the fight. He waits for Buffer to do hissignature BJ Penn intro and then gives a hang-loose to the crowd as heexits. GSP is so confounded by the act that he quits the UFC to remakethe Street Fighter movie as Jean-Claude’s replacement for Guile. GSPmoves on to commercials where he spends the rest of his days tellingcleaning products he is “…not impressed with your performance.”

Pick: BJ Penn by Rear Naked Choke in the 3rd
I’ll even go as far as saying the type of sub BJ is going to pull off! GSP is an animal, there’s no doubt about that, he definitely is the more athletically gifted fighter. But a motivated, in shape, focused BJ Penn is a scary thing. GSP was outclassed in the striking game in the first round or so before BJ ran out of gas. Had BJ been in shape, had a proper training camp heading into the fight and been able to sustain the pace he set in the first; I don’t think GSP would have lasted as long as he did. Both fighters have improved since then, but I still think that BJ’s boxing is technically better than GSP’s. If the fight goes to the ground, sure GSP has good wrestling and good sub defense, but against BJ… any little opening and you are going to get caught in something.
The way I see it, BJ catches GSP with something on the feet but he’s unable to finish and GSP recovers. BJ manages to get to Mount once it hits the ground, GSP gives up his back, BJ sinks in the Rear Naked Choke. Call it a day, BJ Penn UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion. WAR BJ! - diZZy

Name: John Edwards - Senior Creative Manager
Pick: BJ Penn by decision
Despite the obvious fact that GSP is without question one of the most physically gifted fighters to enter the Octagon in a long, long time, I see a focused BJ Penn grinding out a hard fought victory. BJ has exceptional boxing ability as he showed in their first meeting and if he can keep that up without gassing I don’t see GSP having an answer. If the fight manages to go to the ground there is a better chance that GSP can pull off the victory, but BJ Penn is not exactly easy to finish on the ground. If GSP presents even the smallest window of opportunity on the ground, BJ will capitalize.
Having said that, I don’t think it will get to that point, with both men fighting to stale mate on the ground. I would however, not be surprised if either man managed to pull off something dramatic and stop the other…they are two of the best and they both seem to be focused and ready. It is going to be an amazing fight!

Name: Rob Pearsell - Design Intern
Pick: St-Pierre by a landslide victory
GSP’s got the moves. He’s mobile, acrobatic and definitely looks to be at home in the octagon. BJ’s gonna need to learn to krump or at least pop and lock like a pro if he’s going to sway the audience’s hearts from Georges’ backflip and break dancing. As for the fight, I’m hoping for at least three rounds of awesome and a stoppage.

Name: Eric Dettman -Product Coordinator
Pick: BJ Penn – 3rd Round TKO
I have to go with BJ Penn by TKO in the 3rd. BJ with his vicious striking and constant submission threat will slowly wear Georges this time around. No disrespect to GSP- the guy is a warrior. But did you see what BJ did to Joe Stevenson in UFC 80? I expect GSP to leave the Octagon just as beat up and bloodied as Joe. Let’s just hope BJ has come up with a better method of cleaning his gloves at the end of the fight. The man is a beast.

Name: Omar Kendall - Senior Systems Designer
Pick: N/A
I’m actually not going to make any prediction. I feel I have a responsibility to remain neutral – hopefully this makes for a more accurate representation of our fighters in game! For the record, in UFC 2009 Undisputed, GSP and BJ are almost evenly matched. We give GSP the edge in Cardio, Kicking, and Wrestling, but BJ’s Punching, Speed, and Submission skills are slightly superior. Should be an excellent fight.
